PIONEER NEWS SERVICE | Dehradun

The Vyapar Mandal in Dehradun is not happy with Finance and Parliamentary Affairs minister Prem Chand Aggarwal tendering his resignation to the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. The business fraternity is expecting the CM to reject Aggarwal’s resignation.

After news of the minister tendering his resignation spread, his supporters started visiting his residence and some of them said that they will call for a bazaar bandh in Dehradun on Tuesday in protest against this development. Aggarwal reportedly told his supporters that they need not take any such step, stressing that he had tendered his resignation on his own.

Aggarwal told his supporters that all are Uttarakhandhis irrespective of who is from the mountains and from the plains, adding that all had struggled hard to achieve the creation of Uttarakhand as a separate State. Vyapar Mandal sources said that Aggarwal, who is also the Rishikesh MLA, said that he does not want any controversy or disturbance due to his resignation. The Vyapar Mandal has demanded that Aggarwal’s resignation should not be accepted by the chief minister.

It is pertinent to mention here that Aggarwal had courted controversy at least a couple of times in the past but had managed to overcome it. This time, the opponents pounced upon a carelessly spoken word and escalated it enough to make the Bharatiya Janata Party reconsider its stance regarding Aggarwal.
