Congress leaders have alleged that the law and order situation in the State has collapsed. On the other hand, the Bharatiya Janata Party has reiterated that the State government is ensuring an impartial and just law and order situation. The BJP State president Mahendra Bhatt alleged that Congress leaders are trying to damage the image of Uttarakhand even as the law and order situation in States with Congress governments remains dismal. Impartial and strict actions have been taken in all cases of crimes which have come to light in Uttarakhand so far, he claimed. Interacting with the media, Bhatt said that the government is ensuring prompt and impartial action in all cases, especially those related to gender crime. The accused are in jail awaiting their sentence, whether it be the ISBT case, Rudrapur case, the Ranikhet or Jaspur case. Whether it be the rioters in Haldwani or the recent incident in which an MLA’s brother was caught with live rounds at Banbasa on the India-Nepal border, the government has taken appropriate legal action, he said.
Bhatt alleged that the Congress is uncomfortable as it lacks issues and ideas. It is spreading lies and dramas due to this, he said. “In fact, the governments of the Congress and its allies are notorious for crimes, especially crimes against women. They fail to ensure justice under their government and also in crimes against their own party leaders,” he said.
