The health, education and cooperatives minister Dhan Singh Rawat has said that solar panels will be installed in the godowns of the State Warehousing Corporation. This was stated by the minister during a meeting with the officer of the Corporation on Wednesday. He said that the solar panels will help in meeting the requirement of electricity. The step will also help in encouraging sources of renewable energy and will be in sync with the commitment of the State government to reduce the carbon footprints. Rawat said that the solar panels will not only help in reducing dependence on conventional sources of power but will help in reducing the expenditures of the Corporation in the long run.
He said that all the godowns of the corporation have been made online for better management and monitoring of the godowns. This will make them efficient and transparent.
The minister said that all the godowns of the corporation have been registered with the Warehousing Development and Regulatory Authority (WDRA). He claimed that Uttarakhand is the first state in the country to have 100 per cent registration of godowns with the WDRA. He said that new cold storages will be constructed in Someshwar, Salon and Ramgarh. In the meeting the managing director (MD) of the corporation Man Singh Saini gave a detailed presentation about the activities of the board.
The minister presented cheques of Rs 46,2000 each to the secretary finance Uttarakhand and Central Warehousing Corporation New Delhi each as the share of the profit.
