Warning- very intense spells of rain likely in parts of State today

Apart from extremely heavy rain witnessed in some parts of Kumaon, moderate to heavy rain was reported in some parts of the State on Monday. The State meteorological centre has issued a yellow warning regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/intense to very intense spells of rain likely to occur at isolated places in the mountainous districts of Kumaon region and Dehradun district of Garhwal region on Tuesday. Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning are also likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Tehri, Rudraprayag, Pauri, Chamoli and Udham Singh Nagar districts today. Apart from this, light to moderate rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at many places in the mountainous districts of Kumaon region and at a few places in the remaining districts of the State.
The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a partly to generally cloudy sky. One or two spells of light to moderate rain /thundershowers are likely to occur in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 33 degrees Celsius and 24 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.
There was 83.5 millimetres rain in Sultanpur Patti, 65.5 millimetres in Ramnagar, 61 millimetres in Ramnagar, 47 millimetres in Dehradun, 43 millimetres in Haldwani, 13 millimetres in Almora and 11 millimetres in Ranikhet. The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts on Monday were 30.6 degrees Celsius and 24.4 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 29 degrees Celsius and 22.6 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 16.5 degrees Celsius and 13.4 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar, 25.6 degrees Celsius and 18.3 degrees Celsius in New Tehri.
