After a spell of light to moderate snowfall and rain in parts of the State, the weather has cleared for now and is likely to remain so during the larger part of the first week of the new year. Light rain is likely in some parts of the State on January 4. However, the New Year celebrations are likely to be sans rain or snowfall. The State Meteorological Centre has forecast that dry weather is likely to prevail in all districts of the State on Wednesday. The centre has issued a yellow warning (Watch) regarding the possibility of moderate to dense fog likely to occur over Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts during the morning hours.
The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a mainly clear sky. Shallow to moderate fog is likely to occur during the morning hours. The maximum temperature is likely to be about 20 degrees Celsius.
Various parts of the State witnessed a rise in temperatures on Tuesday, providing some relief from the cold. The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded on Tuesday were 18 degrees Celsius and 10.2 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 15.8 degrees Celsius and 11.7 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 17.5 degrees Celsius and 5.3 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 17.2 degrees Celsius and 4.8 degrees Celsius in New Tehri.
