With the meteorological centre forecasting light to heavy rains in many parts of the State next week, the monsoon session of Vidhan Sabha is likely to be a challenge for the State government. The session will be held at the Bharadisain building of the Vidhan Sabha at Gairsain in Chamoli district from August 21 to 23.
Bharadisain is located at an altitude of more than 7,800 feet and maintaining smooth road connectivity amid heavy monsoon rains will be the biggest challenge for the authorities. The roads connecting to Bharadisain near Gairsain pass through high mountains and many slide-zones become active during the monsoon season on the roads and highways linking Gairsain to Dehradun and other parts of the State. The government officials, employees and security personnel have started moving to the summer capital of the State for the monsoon session.
The session has been convened for the first time in Bharadisain during the monsoon season. Earlier the budget and winter sessions have been held in Bharadisain, Gairsain. Earlier this year, the government was criticised by the opposition when instead of convening the budget session of Assembly in Bharadisain it organised the session in Dehradun.
The Vidhan Sabha secretariat has so far received more than 500 questions from the members for the upcoming monsoon session of Vidhan Sabha in Bharadisain.
