Wife-husband duo wins in Panchayat polls

A husband and his wife in Lathi village of Kapkot Tehsil in Bageshwar district have both won in the Panchayat elections. Kunjur Singh Koranga was elected as a member of the Block Development Committee while his wife Rajni Koranga was elected as the Gram Pradhan.

This is the second time Kunjur Singh has been elected as BDC member. He received 354 votes, defeating his closest rival Pushkar Singh, who got 207 votes. Joga Singh came third with 183 votes and Kedar Singh was fourth with 165 votes. In the election to the post of Gram Pradhan, Rajni Koranga won with 195 votes. Champa Devi got 138 votes and Kiran Devi secured 78 votes. The couple thanked the villagers and god for their win and promised to work together for the development of the village.
