Will not sleep & not let you sleep – CM Dhami to officers

Asks officers of PWD to improve work culture, warns about strict action on laxity

Tuesday, 05 April | PNS | Dehradun

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is continuing to maintain a stern approach in dealing with the state administration in his second tenure. On Monday he presided over a review meeting of the Public Works Department (PWD) and forest department at the state secretariat. Dhami clearly told the officers that he is ready to shed his sleep in the public interest and will not allow the officers to take sleep either.

The CM strictly told the officers of PWD and associated departments during the review meeting that laxity in construction of roads and bridges would not be tolerated. Emphasising on maintaining quality in the construction works, CM warned that strict action would be initiated on the complaints of compromise in quality. He asked the officers to bring an improvement in work culture in public interest and said that the entire system needed to be strengthened.  Taking a stern view on the pending works, Dhami said that the progress reports of all the pending projects should be placed before him and chief secretary (CS) every 15 days. He advised the department to make graphs of the projects and complete the works in time.  Dhami said that an action plan for landslide zones in the Char Dham Yatra route should be prepared within seven days. He said that use of modern equipment in the landslide zones should be made to reduce the response time and suggested that permanent solution of sensitive landslide zones should be done by their long term treatment.

Dhami postponed the review of the Pradhanmantri Gramin Sadak Yojna (PMGSY) in the middle  when he found that the officers had come unprepared. He curtly told the officer to come prepared for the meeting after a week. He sought information about all the works the PMGSY did in the last five years.

In the review meeting the CM was informed that 41 works covering 691 km have been approved out of 53 works ( 889 km) in the Char Dham Project.  Under the Bharatmala project selection of five roads ( 628 km) have been done for strengthening the transport facility in the strategically important border areas.

The meeting was attended by cabinet minister Ganesh Joshi, CS S S Sandhu, Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Anand Bardhan, Principal Secretary R K Sudanshu, secretary S A Murugeshan and others.
