Will not spare anyone denigrating Char Dham, warns DGP

The director general of police Deepam Seth said that anyone denigrating the Char Dham will not be spared and will face strict legal action. He said the police are also monitoring social media to ensure that disruptive elements do not exploit the platform to hurt religious sentiments.
He further said that the Uttarakhand Police is fully prepared for the Char Dham Yatra starting today with the reopening of Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham in Uttarkashi district.The DGP said this during his visit to Haridwar on Tuesday. He also checked the Char Dham Yatra registration centre at Rishikul during his visit.
Seth also interacted with the pilgrims he met at the location during his visit and enquired about their issues. He said that all arrangements for the Yatra have been completed, adding that various teams of the police have been deployed on the ground for this purpose. The police are also focusing on cyber criminals and the cyber cell and special task force are jointly working to ensure that cyber criminals do not dupe pilgrims. The police have also issued a QR code to enable citizens to protect themselves from cyber criminals. All relevant information will be available to the citizen using this QR code, he said.
The DGP also said that all requirements of the police personnel posted on Char Dham Yatra duty will be taken care of by the department. Special focus will be laid on providing water and other aids to the personnel to help them avoid the negative impacts of heat. The police have made a special traffic plan combining Haridwar and Rishikesh along with a plan B to handle any eventuality, so that the traffic can be managed efficiently.
