Winning a booth is akin to winning the election says Nadda

Nadda holds rounds of meetings on third day of U’khand tour

Continuing rounds of meetings on the third day of his Uttarakhand tour, the Bharatiya Janata Party national president JP Nadda attended a booth committee meeting in Dehradun on Sunday. The BJP State president Banshidhar Bhagat, Dehradun district head Sitaram Bhatt, zonal head Vijendra Thapliyal and the booth head Soniya Verma shared the dias with Nadda in what the BJP is terming the first such meeting of its kind in the nation’s political history with the national president of the world’s biggest political party attending a booth committee programme.

Speaking in the meeting, Nadda said that the BJP works on ideological basis and does not indulge in politics on the basis of caste and religion like other parties do. He said that the booth committee does the important task of bringing the voter from home to the polling centre. The BJP workers should avoid pageantry and work with harmony and joint efforts. Stressing on the importance of booths he said that winning a booth is akin to winning the election. He said, “While the other political parties have become limited to families, our party is a family in itself. It is only in our party that a booth level worker can reach upto senior positions. Such is the discipline of the BJP that if even its national president is not required on the stage, he will sit below with the others and listen to the booth head.” Referring to the Shastrinagar, Kanwali Road area where the meeting was being held, the BJP national president pointed out that the head of the booth was a lady. He averred that only the BJP provides fair representation to women in its organisation.

Later, while attending a meeting with the party’s social media volunteers, he referred to them as harbingers of change. He told them to always remember that though they are leaders, they are party workers first. He stated that the BJP was the first party to use the social media platform, adding that its utilisation had been beneficial. Nadda said, “PM Narendra Modi is the most popular leader of India today. This should be publicised too. Do not worry about those who are our hardcore opponents. Those who used to tell me to say Lal Salam, I always told them that I say and will continue saying Vande Mataram. Today the result is in front of you- those who used to utter Lal Salam are on the brink of disappearance while the ones uttering Vande Mataram are rising day by day, even being respected in foreign lands. Nobody can scare the truth or turn a lie into the truth,” he said.

To address the negative propaganda against the government, he said that social media volunteers should make videos of those benefiting from government schemes and share them on different social media platforms. He also said that Modi had done in six years which the Congress couldn’t do in 70 years. Nadda further said that the reason for the BJP’s success in recent elections in 11 states was that all sections of society were benefiting from governmental schemes. “The way I have placed facts before you, all of you should also present facts clearly in all places,” he stressed.

Earlier, the BJP national president also held an office and department review meeting.
