In latest news from Uttarakhand, the winter Char Dham Yatra has been started in the presence of the Shankaracharya of Jyotish Peeth Swami Avimukteshwaranand. The pilgrimage will end on January 3 next year in Haridwar. During this, the pilgrims will visit and pay obeisance at the deities of the Char Dham at their winter abodes. The media in-charge of Jyotirmath Brijesh Sati said that the Shankaracharya would visit Kharsali, the winter abode of Mother Yamuna, first on his char dham yatra and participate in the puja and aarti there, adding that this pilgrimage by the Shankaracharya is continuation of the 2500-year-old tradition. Calling the pilgrimage by the Jyotish Peeth Shankaracharya ‘historic’, the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that it would boost winter Char Dham pilgrimage.
