Winter Char Dham Yatra to be a game changer for Uttarakhand: CM

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the winter Char Dham Yatra is eliciting very good response. He said that more than 40,000 pilgrims had visited the winter abodes of the Char Dham till December 30 and the number increased significantly on the New Year eve. The CM was addressing the oath taking ceremony of Uttaranchal Press Club on Saturday. He said that the success of the winter Char Dham Yatra is very encouraging as it will prove to be a game changer. Dhami said that the winter Char Dham Yatra will ensure that the Yatra remains operational throughout the year.
Reiterating the commitment of his government on implementation of Uniform Civil Code (UCC), the CM said that the code will be implemented in the State this month. He said that the State government is working on preparing a stringent land law in Uttarakhand. Dhami said that the State government has asked the State administration to act against the offenders of the existing land laws and excess land in more than 750 cases has become inherent in the State government. He however added that the new land laws will not hurt the interests of the investors.
The CM said that the unemployment rate in the State has declined by 4.4 per cent and the State government is moving on the right track to double its GSDP by the year 2027. He claimed that the GSDP has already witnessed an increase of 33 per cent. In the start-ups the State is now in the leader’s category. The CM said that despite interruption of some days due to the disaster, more than 35 lakh pilgrims visited the Char Dham last year. He said that the NITI Aayog has stamped its approval on the growth story of Uttarakhand as it has placed it on number one position in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). “ The State is in the top five states in the country in attracting investment and is in first position in the Himalayan States,’’ he said.
Dhami said that the first international Pravasi Uttarakhandi Sammelan will be organised on January 12. The objective of the conclave is to include the efforts of the non-resident Uttarakhandis in the development of the State.
The CM said that the State government has increased the corpus of the journalist welfare fund and directed the officers to start a group insurance scheme for the journalists. Dhami said that the media played an important role in the freedom struggle of the nation and in the statehood movement of Uttarakhand.
He congratulated the new executive body of the Uttaranchal Press Club.
The founder president of the club Devendra Bhasin, director general information Banshidhar Tiwari, president of press club Bhupendra Singh Kandari, general secretary Surendra Dasila and others attended the programme.
