Winter chill likely to set in next week, dry weather likely till then

Some parts of the State may witness partly cloudy conditions on Friday though rain and snowfall is not forecast yet in the next few days. The temperatures may start falling next week. The State meteorological centre has forecast that dry weather is likely to prevail in all districts of the State today. The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a mainly clear sky with mist likely to occur during the morning hours. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 27 degrees Celsius and 13 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.

Meanwhile, the maximum and minimum temperatures have continued to remain above normal in various parts of the State. The maximum and minimum temperatures in Dehradun were 28.2 degrees Celsius and 13.3 degrees Celsius respectively on Thursday, 26 degrees Celsius and 13.6 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 21 degrees Celsius and 5.7 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 20.9 degrees Celsius and 8.8 degrees Celsius in New Tehri. The maximum temperature and minimum temperature were three degrees Celsius and two degrees Celsius above normal respectively in Dehradun. The maximum was a degree below normal while the minimum was three degrees above normal in Pantnagar. Similarly, the maximum temperature was four degrees above normal in Mukteshwar while in New Tehri the maximum and minimum temperatures were both a degree above normal.

According to meteorologists, the northern wind flow and western disturbances, which typically bring colder air, haven’t fully set in yet. However, this trend is expected to shift around November 17, after which temperatures are likely to start falling.
