Saturday, 27 July 2024 | PNS | DEHRADUN

The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan  Mahara has demanded that the Union government should immediately withdraw the Agnipath scheme for recruitment in armed forces. The PCC president is on a foot march to Kedarnath; he said that the withdrawal of the Agnipath scheme will be the best tribute to the martyrs. Mahara commenced the third day of the Kedarnath Pratishtha Raksha Yatra from Shivpuri on Friday. Addressing the fellow travellers and local workers the PCC president said that Kargil Victory day gives an opportunity to remember the exemplary bravery of the Indian soldiers in the Kargil war.

He said that the Indian Army has always made the country proud with its valour and has always kept the countrymen safe by protecting our borders. Mahara said that martyrdom of the brave soldiers can never be forgotten and the tale of their bravery will always remain fresh in our hearts. The PCC president said that Uttarakhand is a abode of braves where almost every family has a member in the Armed forces.  “No one can understand the martyrdom of brave soldiers, their sacrifice and penance more than us. We all are indebted and grateful to our brave soldiers.

The government should keep in mind that the soldier families have many problems and their problems should be solved on priority basis,’’ he said. The PCC president said that he is overwhelmed by the public support for the Kedarnath Pratishtha Raksha Yatra.  He said that the public support shows that the message of the Yatra is reaching the common people. “The people want that our historical, cultural and mythological symbols, heritage and beliefs of the scriptures should not be tampered. Baba Kedarnath is the protector and guardian of all of us,’’ he said. He said that the Yatra will prove to be a historic Padhyatra.
