Registering strong protest over slapping of cases on 400 workers of Uttarakhand Purva sainik kalyan Nigam Limited (UPNL), the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Pritam Singh has said that the BJP government of the state is adopting double standards. In a statement he said that that the state government has crossed all limits of insensitivity. He said that on one hand the state government is giving promise of regularisation to the UPNL workers and the other hand it is taking no cognizance of the agitation of these workers which has entered 55th day and now it has registered cases on 400 workers. The PCC president demanded that the state government should immediately withdraw cases on UPNL workers. Launching into an attack on the state government for affecting a cut in the grade pay of the police personnel, he said as per the new regulation that the constables who were not promoted from last 20 years would now not get the grade pay of Rs 4600. The decision would affect 3500 constables of Uttarakhand Police. He said that the state government should reconsider this decision which has broken the morale of the force.
The PCC president also demanded that in view of the second wave of the Covid-19 in the state the state government should fill up its backlog of seats in health department and appoint the health workers which were temporarily recruited by the health department last year. Singh said that these health workers showed exemplary courage during the pandemic period last year and served the people but when the number of cases dropped a thankless government showed them exit door.
