With the issue of the passengers in waiting list (WL) entering the sleeper coaches and disturbing those who have confirmed sleeper coach tickets, the Railway department made it clear that such intrusions were illegal and would not be tolerated. Notably, the matter figured in the discussion in the Parliament recently. The Railway officers further said that if the TTE finds the WL passengers in the sleeper coaches he is mandated to fine them anywhere between the starting and terminal points of the train’s route and send them to the general coaches.
They clarify that the tickets of those who figure in the WL with sleeper facility not confirmed get cancelled and they are entitled to refund. So, it is violation of the law on their part to enter sleeper coaches to the inconvenience of the confirmed sleeper coach passengers, they said and added that the number of RPF and GRP personnel in the sleeper coaches is being increased.
