PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE /Dehradun

In the case of the attempted kidnapping of a woman in Dehradun on September 23, a woman was arrested for her involvement in the crime. The accused planned the incident with four others following a financial dispute linked to a dairy business, police said on Saturday.

The accused was identified as Chahat alias Annu.

Police said that four other suspects — Deepak, Sushant alias Lucky, Aditya Vashisht and Priyanshu — were identified during questioning. They are currently wanted in the case.

The supreintendent of police (Rural) Jaya Baluni said that the dispute was linked to a dairy business in Athurwala, Bhaniyawala. The accused woman had reportedly invested Rs 7.5 lakh to run a dairy with 11 cows. They later claimed that the cows were producing much less milk than they had been told.

The police said the accused wanted their money back and had been under pressure from people who had lent them money. They allegedly planned to scare Sushma Verma after the financial dispute continued.

Baluni said that the suspects rented a car for the plan. However, they fled after Verma raised an alarm and nearby people approached them.

The incident took place near Nalapani Chowk on September 23 at about 6:50 AM. The complainant, Sushma Verma had alleged that some people tried to forcibly put her into a car.
