In latest news from Uttarakhand, with the order of the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, a woman suffering severe labour pain was airlifted to AIIMS Rishikesh where she delivered her baby. Vandana Nautiyal (26), resident of Badsi in Chiniyasaur tehsil, had been admitted to Uttarkashi district hospital where the doctors refused to conduct the delivery, given the complication of her condition. Condition worsening, someone from Yamunotri contacted Purola MLA Durgeshwar Lal who immediately called the CM. As the CM ordered airlifting, the District Disaster Management Authority swung into action and arranged for air ambulance (helicopter) in coordination with Uttarakhand Civil Aviation department.
