A woman has died after the house she was in was buried by landslide debris in Didihat area of Pithoragarh area on Tuesday morning.
Two women reportedly lived in the house but the mother in-law had gone out when disaster struck at about 7 AM. Rescue teams reached the spot and worked for hours to rescue the trapped woman.
A neighbouring house also suffered damage from the landslide debrisThe houses were located along the Didihat-Bhandara Road, near the polytechnic college.
Authorities have urged residents in nearby areas to remain alert as the region remains prone to further landslides following recent heavy rains.
