A woman of Uttarakhand-origin, Hemu Basu who has been making a mark in the culinary world by making sculpted cakes will be seen in Netflix’s new series “Is It Cake”. Basu is a self-taught cake sculpting artist whose journey to make a mark in the culinary world started in Scotland in 2013. Talking about her journey, Basu who is originally from Dehradun, said that she started participating in cake decorating contests in 2016 and has won several prizes too. She said that her first contest was an online cake contest in February 2016 that she won too. Feeling excited about this new achievement, she decided to participate in more contests, said Basu. Owing to the experiences garnered through such a journey, Basu will be seen in Netflix’s new series “Is It Cake” which will start from March 18. Participants will compete in the shows to create hyper-realistic cakes that look exactly like everyday items to deceive a panel of celebrity judges and the audience. She said that by turning the cake into the shape of the items like a bowling ball or a hamburger, contestants will do their best to stump a celebrity panel of judges with the question- is it cake?
