A woman was seriously injured by a tigress in the Bijrani range of Corbett tiger reserve when the villager had gone to the woods for collecting fodder. The woman was taken to Ramnagar for primary treatment from where she was referred to higher centre in Haldwani.
The Bijrani range officer Rajkumar informed that Amdanda Khatta resident 29 year old Radha Singh had gone to collect fodder as usual when she was attacked by a tigress. Hearing her screams, the locals reached the site and managed to rescue the lady struggling with the tigress after the big cat left her injured and went back deeper into the jungle. The range officer further informed that the tigress has been active in this area for quite some time. Considering this, the villagers have been repeatedly warned against venturing into the jungle. Despite this, the villagers continue to go to the jungle to collect fodder for their domesticated animals and end up disturbing the wild animals like the tigress. Stating that when disturbed, wild animals like the tigress are likely to attack, he once again appealed to the villagers to not enter the jungle considering the movement of the tigress in the area.
