The folk dance of Pandav Leela was performed by artistes from seven districts along with a team from Rudraprayag at an Ashram in Madan Negi area of Tehri district. The highlight of the event was that most of the parts were enacted by women thus breaking the usual practice where only males take to performing the musical ballads in the region.
Lakshmi Shah, who played the part of Draupadi in a performance said that they started performing with the all-women team in 2014 from Rudraprayag and are planning to perform in Ayodhya this year.
District Panchayat president Sona Sajwan praised the artistes and urged the women to come forward in every field. She also distributed citations and awards to the performers. Former Pramukh, Khem Singh Chauhan encouraged the artists and appealed to the youth to launch a campaign against drug abuse.
