Women excelling in every field, empowering society: CM Dhami

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that on the basis of their self confidence, dedication and enterprise the women are economically and socially empowering themselves and others. He said that the women are excelling in every field and making the country proud. The CM was addressing a programme organised on the occasion of Rakshabandhan at Ramlila ground, Doobhchauda Ladoli in Champawat on Wednesday. Large number of women from different parts of the district tied Rakhi on the wrist of the CM in the programme.
Giving greetings of the festival, the CM said that he is overwhelmed by the love showered upon him by the sisters. He said that Rakshabandhan is the symbol of sacred relationships between brothers and sisters. Apart from giving the message of respecting women the festival has historic and cultural significance. He assured the women that he will continue to work for their interests. The CM said that the benefit of the special welfare schemes of the government should reach the general public. The CM appreciated the Rakhis and other products made by women self help groups using Pirul (Pine needles), Aipan and cotton. He said that the women of the district are promoting local products on the lines of ‘vocal for local’. The CM said that women self help groups are provided with interest free loans up to Rs five lakhs. He said that the state government has started Sashakt Behena Yojana for women empowerment in the State. The CM said that women scientists played a key role in the success of the recent Chandrayan III mission. The CM said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given a Rakshabandhan gift to women by reducing the price of a cooking gas cylinder by Rs 200. The CM also made many announcements for Champawat which is his assembly constituency.
CM announces free bus ride for women on Rakshabandhan
In a special gesture to women of the State, the Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Thursday announced that women passengers can avail free travel in buses operated under Uttarakhand Transport Corporation (UTC) from 12 PM on August 30 to 12 AM on August 31 on the occasion of Rakshabandhan.
Dhami also tweeted on Twitter (now X), “On a special occasion of Rakshabandhan, it has been decided to make travel free for mothers and sisters in buses operated by UTC.” He further said that women can avail of free travel facilities in UTC buses passing through Uttarakhand and other states.
