After the long-awaited Women’s Reservation Bill (WRB) was passed through both houses of the Parliament meant to reserve 33 per cent seats of the Parliament’s lower house and the State assemblies through the 128th Constitution amendment, a number of women turned up at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi and thanked the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his instrumental role in the passage of the bill. There were among them the women beneficiaries of the welfare schemes rolled out by the Centre. Among those present on the occasion were the BJP’s national president J P Nadda and Union ministers Nirmala Sitharaman and Smriti Irani.
