Women in Uttarakhand will get 33 per cent reservation in the allocation of existing and new public distribution system shops. The Food and Civil Supplies minister Rekha Arya instructed officials to draft a proposal regarding this in order to further empower women. Interacting with ration dealers and officials concerned, Arya said that the proposal will be tabled in the coming cabinet meeting.
A conference will be organised soon to discuss the achievements, challenges and issues faced by women ration sellers. Addressing concerns raised by members of the ration dealers association, the minister directed officials to resolve these without delay. Arya stated that the dividend for ration sellers up to June has been distributed, and the Central Government has been notified regarding the remaining payment of dividends and rent. Efforts are also being made at the State government level to expedite these payments.
She further informed that officials have been instructed to ensure that the remaining dues for ration provided in Anganwadi centres are settled. Apart from this it has been instructed that any problem regarding the payment should be resolved through virtual meetings with the District Programme Officer (DPO) and District Supply Officer (DSO) concerned.
