Women’s sports college in Lohaghat to offer world class facilities: CM

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stated that a women’s sports college being set up in Lohaghat will offer international-standard sports facilities for the State’s female students. He said this during a site inspection of the college, located in Chamaniya, Lohaghat area of Champawat district on Friday. The college is being constructed at an approximate cost of Rs 256 crore.

During the visit, the CM reviewed the progress of the construction work in detail and instructed the executing agency and departmental officials to complete all tasks within the stipulated timeframe and adhere to high-quality standards. 

He also assessed the development of various sports facilities, including a football ground, an astroturf hockey ground, volleyball and basketball courts, as well as a synthetic athletic track and other sports areas under construction. Additionally, he inquired about the construction of a 300-bed girls’ hostel, staff quarters, an administrative building, an academic block, a multipurpose hall, an auditorium and a guest house.

CM emphasised that all sports facilities being developed at the said college will meet international standards, enabling the State’s female athletes to excel in national and international competitions and bring glory to the State. He highlighted that this institute will serve as a strong platform for progress, particularly for talented girls from rural and mountainous areas, by providing comprehensive training, education and accommodation.

After inspecting the college at Lohaghat, the CM also inaugurated the Maa Purnagiri Fair in Champawat, launching development projects worth Rs 74.54 crore on the day. In his visit the CM inaugurated and laid foundation stones of many development projects for Champawat district.
