Work in coordination to combat dengue: Raturi

In view of the increasing cases of the disease in the Kumaon division, the additional chief secretary Radha Raturi held a meeting with the officers concerned at the State secretariat on Monday. In the meeting she directed the district magistrates (DM) and chief medical officers (CMO) of the district to take effective steps to prevent the spread of the dengue. She said that different departments should work in coordination to combat the disease. The ACS said that the administration should remain in an alert mode and focus on creating public awareness against the disease. She said that there is no shortage of blood in the blood banks of the State. Raturi said that 81 per cent patients of the disease have recovered so far and blood and platelets are available in sufficient quantities in the blood banks. She directed the CMOs to undertake regular inspections of the hospitals, ensure availability of the ELISA test kit for dengue and availability of the beds in the dengue wards. Raturi said that focus on sanitation and fogging should be done by the administration.
In the meeting the ACS also took stock of the situation of the landslide affected areas of Nainital.
The meeting was attended by additional secretary health Amandeep Kaur, director general (DG) information Bansidhar Tiwari and others. The Kumaon commissioner Deepak Rawat and all the DMs of Kumaon division attended the meeting in virtual mode.
