Work in mission mode in tracking pregnant women, ANC & anaemia: CS to officers

The Chief Secretary Radha Raturi has directed the officers of the Health department to work in a mission mode and keep a close watch on the tracking of pregnant women, Antenatal Care (ANC) and prevalence of anaemia across the state.

She directed the Health department to track the visits made by ANMs for ANC of pregnant women through 104 service to improve the maternal mortality rate in Uttarakhand  under the SDG Index 2023-24. The CS chaired a review meeting with the officers of different departments at the State secretariat on Monday. Discussion on ways for improvement in various indices under Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2023-24 was held in the meeting. 

Raturi said that the disabled children deprived of education in the state should be counted so that their admissions in the schools are ensured. She said that arrangements of special educators for such students should be made. In the meeting the CS appointed the labour department as the nodal agency for increasing women’s participation in managerial positions in the private sector.

She said that in the complaints of domestic violence received in women help desks in Police stations, arrangements for keeping the harassed women in the safe house should be made and efforts for counselling of their parents should also be made. The CS directed the Police to collect data on the people of different age groups committing suicide so that a targeted approach for providing mental health services can be adopted.

In cases of violence against Scheduled Castes, the Chief Secretary gave instructions for effective investigation and timely distribution of compensation. She directed the Transport department to collect data related to black spots and crash barriers for reduction in the number of road accidents in the State.

Secretaries R Meenakshi Sundaram, R Rajesh Kumar and officers of planning department attended the meeting.
