Working to set up one medical college in each district: Dhami

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that the State government is working in the direction of setting up one medical college in each district of the State. This will help in ensuring that the modern health facilities are available to the people in their own district, he said.

The CM was addressing a programme at his residence on Wednesday in which he distributed appointment letters to the newly recruited nursing officers in the government medical colleges of the State.

The Health department has recently appointed 1,232 nursing officers. The CM also inaugurated the new auditorium of the Government Doon Medical College constructed at a cost of Rs 26 crore on the occasion.

Congratulating the newly appointed nursing officers, the CM said that the patients will get improved and prompt services in the government medical colleges of the State. He said that the nursing staff and health personnel played a key role during the pandemic of Covid-19. The CM expressed hope that the newly appointed nursing officers will work with commitment, dedication and human values.

He said that under the Ayushman scheme about 11 lakh patients have availed the benefit of cashless treatment worth Rs 2,100 Crore. 

The CM said that helicopter ambulance service has started in the State which is proving to be a life saver to the people in the remote areas of the State. He said that efforts are being made to remove the shortage of staff in the government hospitals and medical colleges.

The CM said 173 assistant professors, 56 other faculty members and 185 technicians have been appointed so far to strengthen the medical education in the State.

He averred that in the last three years more than 22,000 were provided government jobs in the State.

 The Health minister Dhan Singh Rawat said that the State government is committed to provide better, cheaper and affordable treatment to the patients near their homes.

He said that government medical colleges in Pithoragarh and Rudrapur will soon start functioning.

Rawat said that the government is planning to formulate a proper transfer policy, timely promotion to faculty and appointment of employees on the basis of the number of medical seats in the medical colleges of the State. He said that the government is also mulling over the proposal to regularise the services of contractual workers. 

 Health secretary R Rajesh Kumar said that the department is recruiting employees ranging from doctors to the class IV worker. He said that the appointment of human resource is being done to utilise the health infrastructure of the State.
