World AIDS day: Govt to organise awareness programmes

The Uttarakhand State AIDS Control Society (USACS) will hold awareness programmes in all parts of the State on the occasion of the World AIDS day on Friday. The health minister Dhan Singh Rawat will participate in an awareness programme at Sub district hospital in Srinagar on the day. Rawat said that the officers of the department have been directed to organise the AIDS awareness programmes.
He said that 483 ICTC centres have been set up in the State for prevention and cure of AIDS.
The Minister said 6229 AIDS patients are getting free medicine and consultancy in nine ART centres of the State.
He said that 602 patients of AIDS were found in the state in the year 2020-21 while 877 patients were discovered in the State in the year 2021-22. Rawat said that 5,38958 people were tested for AIDS in the year 2022-23 in which 1250 were found positive similarly 866 AIDS patients have been reported in the State in the current financial year.
