A poster-making competition and an interactive session with student volunteers were organised by the Youth Red Cross Unit, IQAC and NCC (Girls) at DAV College on Friday to mark the World Red Cross Day.

A large number of students participated enthusiastically in the programme, presenting impactful messages through their creative posters.

During the event, the relevance of this year’s theme, ‘Solidarity in Humanity’, was discussed in the context of contemporary issues. College principal Kaushal Kumar emphasised the importance of young people engaging in humanitarian work and shared his experiences of providing aid during challenging times, such as the Covid-19 pandemic.

IQAC coordinator Onima Sharma, NCC (Girls) ANO Archana Pal and Youth Red Cross incharge Shikha Naglia also encouraged students to get involved in humanitarian and social service, stressing the importance of outreach without discrimination. They noted that reaching out to humanity is increasingly vital in light of ongoing wars, national calamities and epidemics.

On this occasion, all members of the Youth Red Cross team—Akhilesh Bajpai, Anup Mishra, Sandeep Kumar and Harpreet Kaur—also motivated the student volunteers, who shared their original insights on the topic. Certificates were awarded to the winners and participants of the poster competition.
