Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that he will do every possible effort to bring Champawat on the map of the world in the field of tourism, power, horticulture and other areas. He was interacting with the media persons on Thursday in Champawat. On the day the CM visited the famous Guru Gorakhnath temple in Champawat and sought the blessing of the deity. The CM was accompanied by former MLA Kailash Gehtodi who had resigned from his assembly membership earlier on the day. Dhami said that he is thankful to Kailash Gehtodi for leaving his seat and is grateful for the people of the Champawat for showering love and affection over him. He said that though many MLAs had offered their seat for him but by the blessings of Baba Gorakhnath and Mata Purnagiri has chosen Champawat to serve the people here.
Political experts opine that the Champawat is perfectly suited for CM Dhami as it is very big and more than half of the electors are concentrated in Tanakpur- Banbasa area which makes it easy to cover it extensively in a short time. Champawat also has a good population of people belonging to Pithoragarh district which is the native place of Dhami. Apart from these factors the area has a considerable population of ex servicemen who are considered as a vote bank of BJP. Gehtodi who was two time MLA from the BJP enjoys a good reputation in the area and is likely to lead the CM’s campaign there.
