Would move SC for restoring reservation for women in jobs – CM

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that the Uttarakhand government is planning to move the Supreme Court on the issue of reservations for women with Uttarakhand domicile in government jobs. He said that women played an important role in the statehood movement and the State government would strongly advocate for restoration of 30 per cent horizontal reservation for women in government jobs. He was addressing a programme organised in Mussoorie on Friday to mark the anniversary of the Mussoorie firing incident. He paid floral tributes at the martyrs’ memorial in Mussoorie and honoured the family members of the martyrs of the Mussoorie firing incident. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the sacrifices made by the statehood activists paved the way for creation of Uttarakhand. He said that the State government is committed to take Uttarakhand forward as per the aspirations of the statehood activists.
Dhami said that a roadmap for the next ten years is being prepared by the State government to take Uttarakhand forward so that it becomes one of the leading states of the country. He said that all the departments have been given targets for the year 2025 when the state would celebrate its silver jubilee. Dhami said that a sum of Rs 1.5 crore has been issued for the construction of the building of Garhwal Bhawan in Mussoorie. In an important declaration the CM said that films showcasing the heroics and sacrifices of the statehood activists would be made so that the youngsters are able to understand them. He assured that a solution of the issue of horizontal reservation for the statehood activists would be found out.
Dhami further said that more than 30 lakh pilgrims have visited the State so far for the Char Dham Yatra and more than four crore pilgrims came to Uttarakhand during the Kanwad Yatra this year.
Speaking on the occasion the cabinet minister Ganesh Joshi said that the Mussoorie firing incident is one of the major events of the statehood movement of Uttarakhand. He said that the State government is sensitive towards the issues of the statehood activists.
Former MLAs Jot Singh Gunsola, Kashi Singh Airy, chairman of the municipal council of Mussoorie Anuj Gupta and others were present on the occasion.
