Making his stoic stand on the return of rebels back to the Congress party clear former chief minister and head of the campaign committee of Uttarakhand Congress Harish Rawat has said that though many leaders are interested to come to Congress the party would protect the interests of its dedicated workers first. The former CM took to social media to express his views on the return of rebels. He said, “some MLAs and ministers are very eager to join the Congress party and banging our doors eagerly and loudly. Our doors are not closed but we do are shying to allow those who have made things difficult for BJP.’’
Rawat further wrote that the Congress would protect the interests of its workers who have worked hard and helped the party to overcome the political disaster of 2017 and has helped in strengthening the party to such an extent that there is a situation of stampede in BJP now.
He said that the Congress party has capable workers who can ensure victory of the party in the elections. In an attack on the BJP, Rawat said that Congress is not like the BJP which can slit the throat of dedicated workers and purchase leaders from outside on the power of money.
Rawat’s assertion assumes significance at a time when speculations are rife that some MLAs including ministers can leave BJP and join Congress party.
