Yellow warning issued for Kumaon amidst drop in rainfall activity
Number of blocked roads decreases with rains on the wane

Rainfall activity appears to be decreasing though some parts of the State received light to moderate rain on Sunday. With the decrease in instances of heavy rain, the number of roads blocked in the State has also decreased. Meanwhile, the State meteorological centre has issued a yellow warning (watch) regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and intense to very intense spells of rain likely to occur at isolated places in the Kumaon region and Udham singh Nagar district on Monday. Apart from this, light to moderate rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at a few places in the districts of the State today.
The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness partly to generally cloudy skies with light to moderate rain/thunderstorms likely to occur in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 34 degrees Celsius and 22 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun on Monday. On Sunday there was 23.5 millimetres rain in Kalsi, 7.5 millimetres in Mori and 6.5 millilmetres in Dehradun. The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various places were 32.7 degrees Celsius and 22.8 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 34 degrees Celsius and 26 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 25.7 degrees Celsius 12.6 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 23.6 degrees Celsius and 16.3 degrees Celsius in New Tehri.
Meanwhile, according to the State Emergency Operations Centre, a total of 125 roads were blocked in various parts of the State on Sunday evening. One national highway, one district road and four rural motor roads were blocked in Uttarkashi district while one State highway, two main district roads and 22 rural motor roads were blocked in Chamoli district. Two State highways, one main district road and 11 rural motor roads were reported to be blocked in Tehri district while 13 rural motor roads were reported to be blocked in the Rudraprayag district. In the Pauri district two State highways, two main district roads and 17 rural motor roads were blocked while two main district roads and 18 rural motor roads were blocked in the Dehradun district. One rural motor road was reported to be blocked in the Almora district while one national highway and two rural motor roads were blocked in the Bageshwar district. A bridge on NH-74 in Kashipur is damaged in Udham Singh Nagar while five rural motor roads were reported to be blocked in the Nainital district. One national highway, four border roads and eight rural motor roads were reported to be blocked in Pithoragarh district.
