Young girls informed about menstrual hygiene

A workshop on menstrual hygiene was organised at Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV), ITBP on Monday. The objective of the workshop was to break taboos surrounding menstruation, promote awareness regarding importance of good menstrual hygiene management and tutor the puberty process in women. 

The Director of the ‘Evolves Lives Trust’ organisation, Alisha Thomas held an orientation session with some teacher of KV, ITBP to apprise the young girls of the biological phenomenon and its various aspects like associated social practices, myths, acceptance, menstrual hygiene and safe disposal of sanitary napkins. 

More than 100 girls participated in the workshop comprising lively activities, pictorial images, short videos and animated graphics that facilitated easy comprehending of the content . An open session elicited doubts and queries of the girl students. 

The Principal, KV, ITBP, Sanjay Kumar said that the workshop had created an apt environment for the students to openly discuss their problems and issues faced during menstruation.
