Youth Congress members in Haridwar staged a protest against Wrestling Federation of India chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and demanded that he should be sacked without delay. The party members also burnt Singh in effigy to register their opposition.
A number of noted wrestlers have been protesting against Singh in the national Capital, accusing him of various wrongdoings. While the protesting wrestlers have maintained that their protest is not political, the opposition is doing its bit to corner the Bharatiya Janata Party on the issue. The protesting Youth Congress members in Haridwar demanded that Singh should be dismissed from the post and sent to jail.
Youth Congress district president Cash Khurana said that it is very unfortunate that athletes are sitting in protest while the government is protecting its leader. If wrestlers are leveling serious allegations against the BJP leader, strict action should be taken against him. Youth Congress city president Tushar Kapil said that the party demands strict action against the BJP leader, adding that the Youth Congress will continue to raise the issue till justice is done.
