Youth held with 1.30 kg of cannabis in Maneri

As part of the ongoing campaign against drug trafficking in Uttarkashi district, Maneri police station arrested a youth with 1 kg 30 grams of cannabis. A case was registered against the accused at the same police station under the NDPS Act. The superintendent of police, Uttarkashi, Kamlesh Upadhyay announced a cash reward of Rs 5,000 for this achievement.

Under the mission of making Uttarakhand drug- free all the police stations and police posts along with the SOG/ANTF teams operating across the district have been continuously carrying out checking campaigns to stamp out drug peddling, said senior police officers. The latest drive was conducted in Maneri   under the close supervision of the deputy superintendent of police, Uttarkashi, Janak Singh Panwar while it was led by the inspector-in-charge, Maneri police station on the intervening night of January 4 and 5. 

The youth identified as Upendra Rana (30) was frisked and arrested near the newly constructed bridge leading to Salang village on the Gangotri National Highway. The market value of the recovered drug is estimated to be around Rs 2.10 lakh.
