A youth identified as Sambhav Gurung, resident of Anar Wala, Dehradun, received gunshot wounds outside a restaurant in Rajpur ahead of Mussoorie Diversion Road late on Friday night. On receiving the information of a gunfight, a team from Rajpur police station rushed to the spot.
Police investigation revealed that the injured along with his friends had got embroiled into a heated altercation with another group of youths inside the restaurant where they had gone to dine. Later, the two groups gathered outside the restaurant and a brawl ensued. That was when a bullet, fired by a youth of the rival group, hit Sambhav. Police rushed him to a nearby hospital.
After the injured youth’s relatives had lodged a complaint, police registered a case. The SHO, Rajpur police station said that the youth who had fired the shot had been identified and teams had been sent to possible locations to arrest him.
