The Uttarakhand Sports minister Rekha Arya said that youth of the State will shape the future of the country in upcoming years. She stated this during the Youth Day celebrations in Haldwani’s Gaulapar Sports Complex on Sunday. The event saw several youth clubs from across the State being honoured with State-Level Youth Awards, while volunteers registered for the National Games were also awarded certificates of appreciation.
The programme commenced with a ceremonial inauguration by chief guest and former chief minister Bhagat Singh Koshyari, MP Ajay Bhatt and Arya. During her address, Arya highlighted the pivotal role of the volunteers in ensuring the success of the upcoming National Games. She said that this Youth Day celebration coincided with a historic milestone as Uttarakhand enters its 25th year of statehood. She announced that under the leadership of CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, the State will host the 38th National Games in a grand manner to mark the Silver Jubilee celebrations. She expressed confidence that the performance of Uttarakhand’s teams will establish the State as a hub of sports excellence. Drawing inspiration from Swami Vivekananda’s famous call to arise, awake, and stop not until the goal is achieved, Arya urged the youth to imbibe his philosophy and channel their energy towards building a better future. Koshyari also addressed the gathering, stressing the responsibility of youth in making Uttarakhand self-reliant. He appealed to them to steer clear of harmful habits such as drug abuse and to focus on constructive endeavours.
Besides this, the event also marked the launch of recycled water bottles to be used in the National Games. Bhatt commended the youth for their transformative role in society, stating that every major change in history has been driven by young minds. The event was also attended by Lal Kuan MLA Mohan Singh Bisht, BJP Mandal President Mukesh Belwal and director of Sports and Youth Welfare, Prashant Arya, among others.
