Youth sentenced RI for 20 years in POCSO case

In latest Uttarakhand news, the additional district judge and special judge POCSO Nandan Singh sentenced a 20-year-old youth Dhiraj Lodhiyal to 20 years’ rigorous imprisonment for sexually assaulting a minor girl aged 14. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on the convict. The government advocate Naveen Chandra Joshi informed that the incident had happened on September 14 2021 and the mother of the survivor had filed a complaint in the Haldwani kotowali, alleging that a 17-year-old youth had sexually assaulted her minor daughter. The police registered a case and produced seven witnesses before the court aside from submitting forensic report on the alleged crime, leading to the conviction of the accused.
