Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced that Vivekanand youth skill development cells will be established in the offices of the development blocks and that necessary resources will be made available for the effective utilisation of Yuvak Mangal Dals and Mahila Mangal Dals. The CM made these announcements after inaugurating the five-day State level Yuva Mahotsav here on Friday.
Dhami said that the theme of the Yuva Mahotsav this year is ‘Youth as Job Creators’, which suits the youth of Uttarakhand. He said that the government aims to increase self employment opportunities along with jobs for the youth. “We are also promoting the sports culture in the State. We have introduced a new sports policy and also reinstated the sports quota in jobs. Under the Mukhyamantri Udiyaman Khiladi Yojana, rising players in the 8-14 years age group are being provided Rs 1,500 monthly sports scholarship. More than 3,900 emerging players have been provided with sports scholarships in the State so far. To encourage sporting talent, national and international level medal winners are also being appointed directly to government jobs,” Dhami said.
The CM further said that the 38th National Games to be held in Uttarakhand will prove to be a milestone for the development of the State’s sports talent. Work has been started to develop various infrastructural facilities for hosting the national games with a national games secretariat also being formed to ensure better organisation of this event, he said.
Dhami assured the youth that they will not face injustice at any level. The State government has taken strict action against those involved in recruitment scam with action on such a large scale being taken for the first time in the State. Referring to the National Youth Day celebrated on the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekanand, the CM said that Vivekanand had stated that humans have immense power, energy and vast capabilities. His ideals for success in life inspire all, he said.
Sports and Youth Welfare minister Rekha Arya said that stalls have been set up by start-ups, youth groups, self help groups and stalls of handicrafts, textiles and agro products at the Yuva Mahotsav venue on Parade Ground. Discussions will be held by experts with the youth on the subject of youth as job creators during the event, she said.
