10 afflicted by dengue in Dehradun district

Amidst fluctuating climatic conditions, 10 persons have been afflicted by dengue and according to government sources based on information from both private and government hospitals in the district. According to the officials, all these cases are related to migrants.
During the months from June to August, there is an increase in dengue cases in general.
Regarding the current dengue situation, the Dehradun Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Manoj Kumar Sharma said that the 10 newly reported cases have been reported from private and government hospitals in Dehradun. He assured the public that the situation is not alarming at present, as all reported cases involve migrants. Nevertheless, in response to these cases, an advisory has been issued to hospitals in the district.
He informed that hospitals have been instructed to remain vigilant in order to address dengue cases. They have been directed to prepare for isolation wards and assign a nodal officer for this purpose at their respective facilities. Additionally, hospital administrations in the Dehradun district have been directed to maintain an adequate stock of dengue testing kits, equipment and medications, among other necessities.
Sharma further informed that the Health department is in the process of developing a micro plan to prevent dengue cases in the Dehradun district. The micro plan entails the deployment of ASHA workers and volunteers, along with coordination efforts involving various departments and stakeholders. He said that once the micro plan is finalised, a meeting with the district magistrate regarding this matter is anticipated to take place soon. Following discussions with the DM, a meeting with the hospital administration will also take place. Sharma urged citizens to take necessary precautions to control dengue cases, which include regularly changing the water in coolers, avoiding stagnant water in their surroundings and other measures. Notably, in 2025, around 785 dengue cases were reported in the Dehradun district.
