The Rajpur police arrested 13 people including an American citizen, during a raid on an illegal gambling operation in the Rajpur area on Tuesday. Officials said that Rajpur police received a tip off about gambling on a large scale at a private house near the helipad area. A joint team of Rajpur police and the Special Operations Group (SOG), led by circle officer Nitin Lohani, conducted a raid on the premises.
Police found 13 people gambling at four tables inside the house. All of them were taken into custody. Police recovered 167 decks of playing cards, 625 dice, 118 gambling chips, Rs 1.52 lakh in cash and USD 41 from the spot.
Police said that one of the arrested persons is a US citizen who was staying in Dehradun. A case has been registered against all the accused under relevant sections of the Gambling Act.
