Women Empowerment and Child Development minister Rekha Arya on Sunday said that 1,860 Anganwadi centres in Almora district will host the ‘Aangan Ka Milan’ programme under the Sewa Sankalp Abhiyan, where beneficiaries will be informed about Central and State sponsored schemes.

Various programmes are being organised across the State under the campaign. Arya convened a meeting with departmental officials and public representatives at Almora on Sunday regarding the programme. She said that 1,860 Anganwadi centres are operating in the district where this programme will be conducted. During the programme, information will be given about nutritious food and take-home ration distribution, Godbharai, Janmotsav, health check-up, vaccination, growth monitoring of children, maternal-child health and various public welfare schemes. Participation of parents, public representatives and the local community will be ensured in the campaign, she said.

Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and leadership of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, several welfare schemes are being run for women, infants and girls. By upgrading Anganwadi centres, the government is providing a better environment for children studying there, she said.

Arya urged officials not to consider it a mere event and to understand its seriousness. She said it is crucial to ensure all preparations in advance for the campaign so that no negligence or problem arises. If any negligence is found at any level, explanation will be sought from responsible officials, she added.
