A new twist has emerged in the murder case of B Tech student Divyanshu Jatrana in Dehradun on Wednesday with two absconding accused, Ankur Singh and Prahalad Raj, having released a video on social media claiming that they were not involved in the murder.

In the three-minute video, both the accused said that they had not been in Dehradun at the time of the incident. They claimed that they have been living in NOIDA, Uttar Pradesh for the past one year and have no connection with the crime whatsoever. They said they are being falsely implicated in the case.

Speaking on the matter, the superintendent of police, city, Pramod Kumar said that police teams are on the lookout for all the accused involved in the murder. “The two accused who have released video flaunting their innocence have not contacted the police and so they are free to present their side publicly,” he said. He also asserted that four of the accused have already been arrested so far and more arrests are in the offing.

Notably, the incident had taken place on March 23 in Kehri village where two groups of students had fought.  During the fight, Divyanshu had been seriously injured. He later succumbed at Government Doon Medical College Hospital.

Meanwhile, senior superintendent of police (SSP) Dehradun, Pramendra Dobal announced a reward of Rs 25,000 on each of the seven absconding accused.
