The Mussoorie-Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) sealed three commercial constructions in Haridwar Bypass and Doiwala on Saturday. The action was taken against buildings that were allegedly being constructed without approved maps and permission from the authority.
MDDA vice chairman Banshidhar Tiwari said the authority will not allow construction without an approved map or required permission. He said enforcement teams are regularly checking different areas and strict action will be taken against violations.
The MDDA enforcement team first sealed a commercial construction being carried out by Naeem Ahmed in a lane near Muskan Hotel on Haridwar Bypass. Another commercial building being constructed by Asif in the same lane was also sealed.
In Doiwala, the team sealed another commercial construction at Kanharwala-Bhaniawala Tiraha. The construction was being carried out by Netrapal Saini, according to the authority.
MDDA officials said the action was part of an ongoing campaign against illegal constructions. The authority said construction without approval can affect the city’s planned development. Such buildings can also create problems related to traffic, parking, drainage and other basic facilities.
MDDA secretary Mohan Singh Barnia appealed to residents and property owners to take the required permission before starting any construction. He said the authority will continue sealing and taking other legal action against illegal constructions in the future.
