21-day training on plant diseases begins at GBPUAT

PANTNAGR:  The department of Plant Pathology, College of Agriculture, Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, launched a 21-day winter school training programme sponsored by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). The theme of the training is ‘New Technologies and Traditional Approaches for Plant Health Management.’

The former head of department and former joint director, Mushroom Research and Training Centre, Pantnagar, R P Singh inaugurated the programme and emphasised the need for continued innovation in agriculture and disseminating research to farmers. The acting dean of Agriculture, Anil Kumar stated that the training combines modern agricultural techniques, especially AI, with traditional knowledge.
The department head, Yogendra Singh provided information about the department’s research and educational activities.

The programme was attended by 12 assistant professors and subject matter experts from six states, along with department scientists, staff and students.
