Rs 110 Cr approved for Nanda Devi Raj Jat Yatra: Maharaj

The State Religious Affairs and Culture minister Satpal Maharaj said that a total of Rs 109.65 crore has been sanctioned for 48 works being carried out by various departments for the Nanda Devi Raj Jat Yatra 2026. He said this while replying to a starred question asked by MLA Brijbhushan Gairala on the second day of the Budget session on Tuesday. He further said that all preparations for Nanda Devi Raj Jat Yatra, known as Himalayan Kumbh organised every 12 years, are being made at various levels.
Sharing details, the minister said that the chief development officer, Chamoli has been designated as Yatra officer to ensure that the pilgrimage is safe and smooth. Besides, the district magistrate Chamoli has designated the divisional forest officer, Badrinath Forest Division, Gopeshwar and sub-divisional magistrates of Chamoli, Karnaprayag and Tharali as the zonal magistrates for the preparations of the Nanda Devi Raj Jat Yatra. “Apart from this, halt officers have also been deployed for each halt during the pilgrimage,” he said.
Further, the State Tourism department has also issued Rs 20 crore to the district magistrate, Chamoli, for the speedy completion of various essential minor works as part of the preparations for the Nanda Devi Raj Jat Yatra.
