2,165 Anganwadi centres of State to get makeover with Rs 21 crore

The Union government has released a sum of Rs 21.43 crore for upgrading 2,165 Anganwadi centres in the State. These centres are being operated under the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) in the primary schools of the State. The State government had sent a proposal to make the Anganwadi centres equipped with facilities as per the provisions of the National Education Policy (NEP)-2020.
The Education minister Dhan Singh Rawat said that the child-friendly furniture and indoor and outdoor play material will be purchased in the Anganwadi centres with the allotted budget. He said the Anganwadi centres will get an image makeover with the budget. The minister said that an amount of Rs one lakh each will be given to every Anganwadi centre. Under the plan 167 Anganwadi centres of Almora, 170 of Bageshwar, 153 in Chamoli, 156 in Champawat, 119 in Dehradun, 58 in Haridwar, 224 in Nainital, 102 in Pauri, 356 in Pithoragarh, 138 in Rudraprayag, 281 in Tehri, 192 in Udham Singh Nagar and 49 in Uttarkashi will be upgraded.
